What do you mean? It's NOT about me??

Nonprofits do so much good with so little money. It's no wonder when it comes time to tell their story that it's a temptationto shout, "Look what we did! We saved a species, rescued a puppy, fed a child, housed the homeless."
And they did.
And it's wonderful!
If this is an internal memo, that is a great way to frame the story, but - -
If the purpose of the story is to inspire donors, volunteers and advocates, it is more effective to focus on THEM.
Look what YOU did - what you made possible. We need you! The fish, the puppies, the children, the homeless need YOU. We can't help them without you.
So tell the story. In fact, tell the same story - just frame it to inspire the audience that can most help your mission at this moment.
Then you can do more good.
And isn't THAT the point?
